Ulundhu Kanji/Porridge

Being sick at home is no fun.. Yep a sick leave after a long time.. I got this viral fever and on bed for a long time now.. I was not willing to have the usual kanji, so i remembered this ulundhu kanji that amma used to make. I made it finally and had it. For a cold winter with fever, this kanji is quite a relief. So here's the recipe.

Ingredients:
Rice - 1/2 cup
Ulundhu - 1/2 cup (i used the ones with skin)
Garlic - 2 flakes (optional)
Salt to taste

Method:
  • Wash and soak the rice and ulundhu for 15 mins.
  • Then pressure cook them along with garlic and salt with about 3 cups of water for 5 whistles.
  • Once the pressure is released, mash them. If you want more watery porridge add some more water and simmer till it comes to a boil.
  • Add salt to taste. Serve it hot with pickle or appalam. I had it plain :)
